Description: This snowshoe hike leads us to one of the most magnificent mountain landscapes of Upper Austria. It is awarded as a landscape and nature reserve.

From the mountain station of the Wurzeralmbahn we walk towards Brunnsteinkar and in a big round over the deep-winter peat meadows and mountain pastures. We become aware that terrain formations, such as sinkholes, the stream of the Teichl or moores, shape the landscape in secret. Snow-covered tree giants and animal tracks in the snow draw our attention to the adaptability of plants and animals, which they need to survive the harsh and long mountain winter. We enjoy our brought snack on a view point, from where we can enjoy the winter scenery.

Location: Spital am Pyhrn
Characteristics: Light snowshoe hike with gentle ascents and descents, ideal for both experienced and casual walkers. No prior experience or knowledge needed!

Meeting point: 10:30 a.m. at the valley station of the Wurzeralm funicular railway, Spital am Pyhrn (registration necessarily required!)

Duration: 4 hours including the ride on the funicular, end approximately 14:30 p.m. at the valley station of the Wurzeralm funicular railway

Needed equipment: Sturdy hiking boots with ankle support / snowshoes * / telescope sticks * or ski poles * / gaiters (not essential) / warm clothing comprising ski underwear, ski socks, waterproof jacket (with hood), waterproof over trousers, general trekking trousers (not jeans or cotton material), warm thermal top and fleece top (made of merino wool is recommended) / warm hat / gloves and mitts / backpack / thermos with hot drink / food / sun glasses and sun cream
