Take a hike - go on with me! Austria is a rich tapestry of landscapes from mighty mountains, deep rivers and lively streams to sunlit meadows and shady woodlands. One way to take in the wonders of Austria's landscapes is by exploring them on foot.

Hiking with Martha means to conquer huge and remote mountain regions, to wander around one of the many glistening fresh-water tarns, to explore scenic alpine pastures with traditional huts and romantic foot paths in ancient forest areas, to discover rare animals and wild plants which are often in flower for just a few weeks on a photography walk, but also to hike simple trails close to valleys as well as long-distance walking trips from hut to hut or village to village to experience some of the finest alpine sceneries to be found anywhere in Austria.

Come along with me on a picturesque jaunt or a sight-seeing hike - I will show you a world full of beauty, magic and power, original and wild, diverse, rich in culture and peasant traditions. Join me to discover and taste some wonderful edibles and to learn to avoid some plants in a species identification workshop.

Get inspired to explore some of Austria's wonderful wild spaces. So if it's a walking holiday you want, a snowshoe tour, a plant life stroll for your family or simply a great day out, no matter your level of expertise, you're definitely in the right place. What are you waiting for?

You can choose from the tours available or I plan and organise according to your individual preferences hiking and snowshoeing trips. I am happy to design family excursions full of exercise, learning and exploring for all ages, where all family members can have fun and enjoy the day together. Or you would like to organise a very special day for your friends that inspires and connects long afterwards as a birthday present or just as great time spent together.

From piling to steel construction

As an authorised tourist guide, I love to take you through the most beautiful towns and show you the cultural highlights in Upper Austria and the other federal states. I’m particularly fond of beautiful landscapes in which cultural sights are embedded, such as the Salzkammergut with its mountains, lakes and picturesque places, the hilly Mühlviertel, the varied Danube valley with its deep valleys or the Wachau, with its lovely vineyards and places steeped in history. But I am equally fascinated by world heritage sites such as Hallstatt and Salzburg, the small historic towns of Austria such as Steyr or Bad Ischl, as well as the (former) centres of monastic life such as St. Florian or Garsten.

Across all eras, from the Neolithic Revolution to the Roman Empire, the Middle Ages, the upheavals of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation, the Age of Enlightenment and Restoration, the abolition of the monarchy and the challenges of the Second Republic.
